Never Take Trash Home Again
MOOP is an unavoidable by-product of life on the Playa.
Burning Man's
Leave No Trace credo means that you the Playa Citizen, have
the responsibility to take all generated trash Off-Playa. How you manage your
waste impacts everyone who enters Black Rock City and ultimately the bottom line of The Burning
Man Project's profit, reputation and future viability.
Burning Man's population has been steadily
growing over the past 10 years, along with that
is an ever increasing consumption of goods and the amount
of trash it generates. The Burning Man Project faces major
challenges in managing the total amount of waste being generated.
Did you know...The average person attending the Burning Man
Festival generates about 3.3 pounds of solid
trash a day! That means each Playa Citizen produces on average 26.4 pounds of trash
over the course of the week of the event. Multiply that by 49,000+
attendees and you get a whopping ~1,293,600 pounds of trash.
That's a Lot of Trash!!!
We’ve all heard the cliché: “Out of sight, out of mind” When
we say that we're throwing garbage away, we tend not to think about what "away"
actually means. Is it really 'Out of Sight'? Unfortunately a large portion
of the trash strapped to the vehicles leaving the Burning Man Festival ends out
on the side of the highway or haphazardly dumped at Rest Stops & Truck Stops
crisscrossing Nevada.
MOOP Be Gone's Trash Pass makes
taking your garbage Off-Playa a thing of the past. Have
a Garbage Receptacle placed in your Theme Camp for pickup or drive up to our
Waste Disposal Center just outside the gate. Let MOOP Be Gone's Refuse
Gurus worry about proper disposal, so you don't have to.
"MOOP Be Gone is committed to protecting and preserving the
environment in Northern Nevada and the long-term viability of
the Burning Man Festival. They make it easy to manage your Playa Waste", Gerlach Tribune.
